Tuesday, November 19, 2002 is National Housing Day of Action

Call Your Congressional Delegation

Urge Them to Cosponsor the Trust Fund or Thank Them for Their Continued Support


Tuesday, November 19 is the National Housing Day of Action and activists, students, faith leaders, and workers across the country are calling, writing, protesting, and getting media attention to get Congress to step up its support for housing measures. The National Housing Trust Fund Campaign is urging Congress to take a bold step in confronting the affordable housing crisis by passing legislation to create a National Housing Trust Fund. The Campaign thanks the legislation’s co-sponsors for their continuing efforts and urges members of Congress who have yet to co-sponsor the legislation to take a stand for the lowest-income Americans by co-sponsoring and supporting the Trust Fund in the 108th Congress.

Please forward this Action Alert to your networks, partners, and affiliates.


NHTF supporters are asked to take the following actions:

1. Determine whether your members of Congress have co-sponsored the Trust Fund legislation.

2. CALL 1- 866-864-NHTF and ask to be transferred to your Representative’s office. Ask to speak to the housing staffer of your Representative and explain the housing situation in your community and the need for resources to address these issues. Ask them to co-sponsor the National Housing Trust Fund in the 108th Congress.
OR
If your Representative has already signed on as a co-sponsor, CALL 1-866-864-NHTF and ask
to be transferred to your Representative’s office. Ask to speak to the housing staffer and thank them for their continuing support the National Housing Trust Fund in the 108th Congress.

3. CALL 1- 866-864-NHTF and ask to be transferred to your Senator’s office. Ask to speak to the housing staffer of your Senator and explain the housing situation in your community and the need for resources to address these issues. Ask them to co-sponsor the National Housing Trust Fund in the 108th Congress.
